Tips for the Cold Weather!

I don’t know if you all are like me right now but I have suddenly found myself surrounded by snow and negative temperatures. I’m a mediterranean girl so this is very odd to me! My face and hands have been suffering tremendously so I thought I’d give you girls (and guys) some tips!

  • Moisturize moisturize moisturize!! main and most important tip. Do it regularly during the day, hands and face since those are the parts of your body most exposed.
  • Use a strong moisturizer. If you see snow or extreme cold then most likely the air is very dry. Skin suffers more with cold than heat so don’t be afraid to use something really thick and pasty!
  • Health over make-up. When it comes to foundation, put on either something light that you can reapply throughout the day, something heavily moisturizing (that won’t fully replace the moisturizer though) or just don’t wear any at all. If you wear a thick moisturizer stick to something light or even powder or mousse (easy to carry in your purse). Remember, you have to keep moisturizing, so if you wear a pasty foundation and moisturize over it two hours later it will look like a melting painting.
  • Lay off the blush. Your cheeks get red enough with the cold, so why bother? Also same problem as foundation, moisturizer over it would make you look like you’re melting.
  • Get lots of sleep! Sleep is vital for healthy skin! It prevents baggy eyes, itchy skin and most of all those horrible zits that show up from stress and fatigue.
  • VITAMINS. I cannot stress the importance of vitamins. Eat fruit and vegetables. If you can’t afford to have a big healthy lunch every day, then take vitamin supplements! I, for one, take two pills every day. They’re just vitamins so they won’t harm you.
  • Don’t overexert yourself. Too much effort (unnecessary amount of exercise, etc) will tire out your body and, consequently, your skin. Unless you have time to sleep 12 hours a day to compensate, try not to overdo it. Fatigue also makes your skin release excess oil and that creates zits and you don’t want that, do you?
